CHURCH MAGAZINE RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION
"Celebrate and Share" was nominated for four awards in The ACE Church Magazine Awards 2005. The categories were Use of Photographs, Simple Cover Design, Good Writing and Article of Faith.
Although we did not receive one of these major awards the magazine and its editor, Douglas Spencer, were awarded a Diploma in recognition of achievement in Use of Photographs, Simple Cover Design, Good Writing and Article of Faith.
The Judges comments are, unashamedly, reproduced here:
GOOD WRITING/ARTICLE OF FAITH
"Gerald Sawyer straddles both categories using music as a vehicle for
proclaiming God's glory."
COMMUNITY AFFAIRS
"A good mix of general features, but more local news reflecting life
in the community will help achieve your aim."
PHOTOGRAPHY
"Congratulations on using colour pictures from the Strawberry Fayre,
and in the fund raising feature."
COVER DESIGN
"Good to see land-locked Derbyshire remembering seafarers. Good use of
colour images without changing the basic cover."
GENERAL ADVICE
"A good read introduced by two lovely covers. It looks clean and crisp,
particularly the August edition. The new printer has clearly enabled you to
maximise colour. I liked the editing/arranging by the photographer of the
two small pictures on the fund-raising page."
