St Michaels & All Angels Brimington

Brimington is a village of approximately 11,000 souls just 2 miles north of Chesterfield, it has a mixed population of people born locally and those who have moved to the area due to work at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital or other employment in Chesterfield, it is a growing population.

Within the parish, St Michaels is seen as "The Parish Church" and is used by most local organisations, including the local council for its public place of worship and by the British Legion as the church for its annual Remembrance Day Parades and other services.

The church plays a very important role in village life; all 3 schools within the parish make good use of the church building, its church family and its resources.

Our main Sunday service is at 10:00am and is attended by 70-80 people aged 16 and over. Of these, 6 have special needs of varying degrees and attend on a regular basis. At times this figure can double if one of the local care homes brings residents to the service. We also host the annual Faith and Light Christmas service for the Chesterfield area. We encourage those with special needs to take an active part in our service, as we believe that they have a real ministry to us.

We believe that our worship should be reverent, but should also be enjoyable with a degree of fun included.

In addition we have an active 'Young Church' group which varies between 6 and 12 children attending the service on a Sunday and a 'Children's church on a Monday afternoon 1.30pm with 10-12 children aged between a few months and 4 years of age attending, each bringing a mother with them.

What is our vision for the future?

If any of the above sounds interesting, then please come along and try us out.
